Meet our Miss Oshkosh 2014, Samantha Pech

My name is Samantha Pech, or as my friends and family call me, Samee. I was born and raised in Oshkosh; I love living here, and I am proud to call Oshkosh home. I am a freshman at Fox Valley Technical College, soon to be transferring to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. My major is business, and I will graduate in May of 2017. I also plan to move to either New York or Los Angeles sometime within the next few years to pursue professional dancing. After, I plan to continue my family’s local business, Crosby Dance Studio. I am so grateful to be representing Oshkosh as Miss Oshkosh 2014, and having the opportunity to promote my platform: Anti-Bullying.

Dance has always been something special to me, and it is what I love to do. My grandmother was a dancer, and in turn my mother also became a dancer. As I always say, it’s in my blood, which makes it meant to be. I have been dancing since I was two years old because my mom could not keep me out of the dance room anymore. I have been trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop and pointe dance. It is so special to me because it is my outlet; I can express myself and pour all my emotions into it. Dance is the one of the things in my life that I know I could not live without; it is that special to me.

My platform, anti-bullying, is something that I am very passionate about. When I was younger, I was bullied so it is something that hits very close to home for me. I know how I felt when I was picked on, and how I felt helpless at first because I did not know what to do about it. Thanks to some amazing role models in my life, they not only taught me it was not my fault that I was getting picked on, but they also taught me how to stand up for myself. Honestly, that was the most important lesson I have learned in my life. Each thing you do in life you need to know how to stand for what you believe in, and I am so blessed to have learned that at such a young age. It has helped me become the person I am today immensely.

The Miss Oshkosh Organization is such an amazing group of people. They are all so supportive, and I know I could not be doing what I am doing without all of them. Thank you for all of your hard work, and everything you do to help me!

Speaking of things I could not live without, my friends and family are are so important to me. I would not be where I am without them, their love and their support. Each and every family member has a special place in my heart, and they have all helped mold me into who I am today. I am so appreciative that I have so many wonderful people in my life that love and care for me. Thank you for everything.
